Report: Bills Receiver Percy Harvin Contemplating Retirement Due To Hip Injury

Percy Harvin’s career is reportedly in jeopardy.

Harvin isn’t with the Buffalo Bills in London for Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and head coach Rex Ryan said the absence was due to personal reasons.

The Buffalo News’ Vic Carucci reported Thursday that Harvin isn’t in London because he’s contemplating retirement. Harvin’s dealt with a nagging hip injury, and apparently it’s enough for Harvin to consider walking away.

However, there’s at least one conflicting report. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Harvin actually isn’t contemplating retirement. NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport chimed in by saying nothing more than Harvin’s future is up in the air and that the hip injury is going to sideline him for some time.

Harvin’s appeared in five games this season, catching just 19 of 30 targets for 218 yards. He’s averaging 11.5 yards per reception and has a touchdown, but he’s been a relative non-factor, especially in the last two weeks. In Week 4 he caught just three of eight targets for only 26 yards, and in the Bills’ Week 5 win over Tennessee he was held catchless on four targets.

He didn’t play in the Bills’ loss to Cincinnati last week.
