Saints Show Colts How It’s Done, Run Successful Fake Field Goal (Video)

The Indianapolis Colts ran one of the worst fake plays in NFL history last week, so the New Orleans Saints showed them how special teams fakes are supposed to work.

The Colts lost to the Patriots 34-27 in Week 6, thanks in large part to a botched fake punt play that put New England well into Colts territory late in the third quarter. But on Sunday, it was the Saints who ran a fake kicking play with 2:45 to go in the first quarter, and it was successful at Indy’s expense.

The Saints used backup quarterback Luke McCown as the holder without the Colts noticing, and kicker Zach Hocker followed through with his leg for some extra deception. McCown passed to tight end Ben Watson for a first-and-goal, and Khiry Robinson rushed for the touchdown on the next play.

New Orleans ended the first half up 20-0 on Indianapolis.
