Aaron Dobson’s season is over.

The Patriots placed the wide receiver on injured reserve Thursday, three days after he reportedly suffered a high ankle injury in New England’s 20-13 win over the Buffalo Bills. The Patriots also announced they have signed safety Dewey McDonald to the 53-man roster.

Dobson, 24, played in eight games this season and made three starts. He had 13 receptions for 141 yards.

The Patriots claimed McDonald off waivers from the Indianapolis Colts on Oct. 28, but he was cut Nov. 12 and signed to the practice squad Nov. 14. He was cut from the practice squad Nov. 18.

The 25-year-old has played in two games, one with Indy and one with New England, this season.
