Broncos Recover A.J. McCarron Fumble In Overtime, Clinch Playoff Berth (GIF)

The Denver Broncos are headed to the playoffs.

Denver had a chance to win their “Monday Night Football” matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals with a field goal at the end of regulation, but kicker Brandon McManus had the most embarrassing miss in the history of football to send the game to overtime.

McManus recovered in the extra frame, drilling a 37-yarder to take the lead.

On the ensuing drive, Cincinnati quarterback A.J. McCarron lost the game for the Bengals (and potentially a first-round bye) after fumbling a snap, which the Broncos recovered.

Just one play earlier, McCarron appeared to have fumbled on a sack, but the play was instead ruled an incomplete pass.

The recovery sealed a 20-17 win for Denver and vaulted it into the AFC’s No. 2 seed. The Broncos can’t clinch that first-round bye until Week 17.
