The New England Patriots will have a new running back Sunday.
The team signed rookie running back Joey Iosefa to its 53-man roster ahead of its Week 15 matchup against the Tennessee Titans. New England cut linebacker Eric Martin to make roster room for Iosefa, in a move first reported by NESN.com’s Doug Kyed.
Iosefa, who was a fullback at Hawaii, was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2015 NFL Draft, but he was waived before the season started. The Patriots added him to their practice squad Oct. 21.
Iosefa will provide depth at running back for the Patriots, who are down to Brandon Bolden and James White in the backfield after injuries to LeGarrette Blount and Dion Lewis.
