New York police reportedly are investigating Giants defensive tackle Jay Bromley for allegedly attempting to rape a woman.
The 26-year-old woman and Bromley met online through Instagram, and they went on a date at a hookah bar in Manhattan on Friday night. Afterward, they went to the Hyatt Herald Square Hotel, where the woman “willfully performed oral sex” on Bromley, a source told The New York Post. But the source said “something took place where she didn’t want it to take place” after that.
Bromley reportedly left the hotel after the incident, but the woman followed him and asked him to drive her home. Bromley denied the request, and a police source told ABC News the women then climbed on to the roof of his car, fell off and injured her leg and knee when he continued to drive.
The woman was taken to the hospital, where she made allegations of sexual assault and attempted sexual assault, and a rape kit was scheduled.
A Giants spokesman released a statement to the Post regarding the alleged incident.
“We are aware of the situation and will continue to monitor it,” the spokesman said. “We have notified the league office per the league’s protocol. We will have no further comment, as we understand this is an ongoing investigation.”
Bromley was a third-round draft pick out of Syracuse in 2014. The 23-year-old appeared in all 16 games this past season and started in four, recording 36 total tackles.
