Brad Marchand has scored more goals than any Boston Bruins player this season, and his 23rd might have been his best yet.

With the Bruins trailing the Buffalo Sabres by a goal early in the third period Thursday night, Marchand collected the puck following a defensive-zone faceoff win by Patrice Bergeron and did the rest himself.

The B’s winger spent the next 12 seconds weaving around and through a string of Sabres defenders before capping his end-to-end rush by slipping the puck past former Bruins goaltender Chad Johnson in Boston’s 3-2 shootout win.

The goal was Marchand’s eighth in as many games, and it brought him to within five of his single-season career high of 28. He’s on pace to score 39 goals this season, which would be the most by a Bruins player since Glen Murray netted 44 in 2002-03.
