The Denver Broncos won Super Bowl 50, sure, but it was the commercials that won the night.
So while defense ruled the gridiron and left us with a sloppy, unexciting game, we salute the marketing teams across the country who made what mattered Sunday night possible. Your $4.5 million 30-second commercials were money well spent.
We could hardly narrow our list of favorites down to a reasonable number and were excited to get several new movie trailers, too. That said, there certainly were a few flops. THE WORST
Mountain Dew Kickstart’s “Puppymonkeybaby”
We don’t even know what to say about this except that it was very strange. Mountain Dew pushes the boundaries with its marketing schemes, specifically with its Kickstart brand, but this one might actually be giving us nightmares later.

Marmot’s “Love The Outside”
Good for Marmot, since we hadn’t even heard of its outdoor clothing brand before this aired. For what it’s worth, this was a chuckle-worthy commercial and kind of cute (if you don’t hate rodent-type animals) — at least until the very end. Then things got weird.

Jublia Toenail Fungus Ad, featuring Howie Long, Deion Sanders and Phil Simms
This was just gross. We don’t want to see this while we scoop up all that guac and buffalo chicken dip. And it was really corny, too.
