Johnny Manziel’s situation with the Cleveland Browns doesn’t just impact his own organization. It impacts the entire NFL, especially the Browns’ division rivals in the AFC North.
Brandon Williams, whose Baltimore Ravens play the Browns twice a season, can’t exactly relate to Manziel, seeing as how he’s a third-round defensive tackle and Johnny Football was drafted to be Cleveland’s franchise quarterback of the future. But Williams still is aware of Manziel’s status in Cleveland and can offer advice from the viewpoint of a fellow NFL player in the age of social media.
“He’s young,” Williams told NESN.com’s Michaela Vernava this week on Radio Row. “He’s going to make mistakes, he’s going to do things that aren’t good for the franchise and in that situation, wanting to be the face of the franchise, you can’t be in those (bad) situations. I just feel like he needs to get his act together.”
The Browns issued a rather harsh statement regarding Manziel earlier this week, suggesting the 23-year-old quarterback might not remain with his current organization much longer. If that’s the case, Williams, among many others, can say, “I told you so.”
