Browns Issue Harsh Johnny Manziel Statement; Cleveland Ready To Cut QB?

The Cleveland Browns sound all but done with Johnny Manziel.

The Browns on Tuesday released the following statement regarding the quarterback, whose continued off-field issues clearly have tested the patience of decision makers in Cleveland.

The Browns technically can’t do anything with Manziel until March 9, which is the official beginning of the NFL season. However, ESPN.com’s Pat McManamon cited a league source saying the Browns will indeed cut Manziel — their 2014 first-round draft pick — in March.

Manziel’s off-field issues are numerous and certainly overshadow anything he’s done on the field over two seasons. The QB, who checked into rehab last year, has been seen partying across the country in recent weeks and months.

Manziel also is being investigated by police for a possible assault of an ex-girlfriend in Texas. The NFL is looking into the situation, too.
