Tom Brady’s father doesn’t want to see anyone criticizing Peyton Manning the same way they criticized his son.
The New England Patriots quarterback supported Manning after alleged ties to human growth hormone surfaced, and Tom Brady Sr. is in the very same boat. The elder Tom Brady told The Boston Globe’s Christopher L. Gasper recently that, like in Deflategate, there isn’t enough evidence to say Manning definitely took HGH.
“If Peyton wins this thing that’s great. He’s going out on top,” Brady Sr. said. “It bothers me that people are trying to pile on Peyton Manning. Until there is hard evidence don’t do to Peyton what they did to Tommy last year, pile on without proof and evidence. It’s unjustified.”
But while Brady Sr. lives just 27 miles north of Levi’s Stadium in Brady Jr.’s hometown of San Mateo, Calif., he told Gasper he’s not sure if he’ll be watching to see if Manning can end his career with a bang in Super Bowl 50. In fact, he’s not even sure his son will be there when the NFL honors the past Super Bowl MVPs.
“He said he would let us know soon,” Brady Sr. said. “I have no idea whether he is going to do it or not do it. I didn’t know he was going to Michigan (for National Signing Day) until I read the paper.”
