The Toronto Maple Leafs’ struggles in recent years stem from a variety of issues. Unsucessful drafting is near the top of that list.
The Leafs are trying to turn around their hockey operations with a top-to-bottom overhaul, which obviously includes new approaches to scouting and drafting.
It’s not like the Maple Leafs have totally missed on players in drafts. They’ve picked some good players, but they’ve also ended up trading away some of those players. In fact, two former Leafs draft picks are now key contributors for the Boston Bruins.
