Blue Jackets’ Jared Boll Suspended Four Games For Blindside Hit Vs. Flyers (Video)
NEW YORK — Columbus Blue Jackets forward Jared Boll was suspended for four games without pay by the NHL on Thursday for interference against Philadelphia Flyers forward Pierre-Edouard Bellemare.
Boll was assessed a major penalty for interference and a game misconduct for the blindside hit in the second period of Columbus’ 3-2 shootout victory Tuesday night. He’s considered a repeat offender under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
In a video announcing the suspension, the NHL’s Department of Player Safety called Boll’s hit “both excessively late and incredibly forceful.”
The suspension will cost Boll $82,927.
