LeBron James can’t help but envision a supersquad featuring him and three of his closest NBA buddies.
There’s been a lot of talk recently about James’ long-term future with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and although there’s been no indication that he’s prepared to bail on his hometown team, it’s clear he’d like to someday join forces with the likes of Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul and Dwyane Wade — a group known collectively as “the Brotherhood” — in pursuit of an NBA title.
“I really hope that, before our career is over, we can all play together,” James recently told Bleacher Report’s Howard Beck. “At least one, maybe one or two seasons — me, Melo, D-Wade, CP — we can get a year in. I would actually take a pay cut to do that.”
James, Anthony and Wade were selected first, third and fifth, respectively, in an incredible 2003 NBA Draft. Paul was drafted fourth overall in 2005. The four men have developed a strong bond over the years and a late-career run together would be special, even if it happened after each player passed his prime.
“It would be pretty cool,” James said, per Beck, who chronicled the four-time MVP’s close relationship with Anthony. “I’ve definitely had thoughts about it.”
Now, we’re having thoughts, too. So which team’s going to make it happen?
