NHL Closes Patrick Kane Investigation, Declares Allegations ‘Unfounded’
The NHL on Wednesday officially closed its investigation into allegations that Chicago Blackhawks winger Patrick Kane sexually assaulted a woman last August in his Buffalo-area home.
In a statement, the league deemed the allegations “unfounded” and said it would have no further comment on the matter.
Kane, who leads the NHL with 89 points this season, addressed the allegations this week in a cover story for Sports Illustrated.
“There’s been plenty of times that I’ve wanted to defend myself in the whole situation, but it’s kind of in the past now,” Kane told SI, via NBC Chicago. “I’m just looking forward to moving on from everything.
“… Guys’ll say, ‘He’s been scared straight’, but I almost feel like I owe it to other people now. Especially the Hawks’ organization, my family, my friends and the people who really supported me and believed in me.”
