Detroit Red Wings rookie forward Anthony Mantha scored his first career NHL goal in his team’s 4-3 win over the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday night, and it provided a special moment for his family.

His grandfather, Andre Pronovost, was in attendance at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit to witness it, and he started to cry as the goal song started blaring.

Pronovost has his own personal history involving the Canadiens. He won four Stanley Cup titles with the Habs from 1956-67 through 1959-60.

The Red Wings drafted Mantha with the 20th pick in the first round of the 2013 NHL Draft. He was the only 50-goal scorer in the draft, yet he fell all the way to Detroit.

Mantha made his NHL debut March 15.
