England and the Netherlands both will take the field with something to prove, despite the fact their respective summers will contrast sharply.
England hosts the Netherlands on Tuesday at Wembley Stadium in London. The game will be England’s final tuneup before manager Roy Hodgson selects his squad for the 2016 European Championship. The Netherlands failed to qualify for Euro 2016, but coach Danny Blind is working hard to restore the Dutch to a lofty place in the soccer world’s pecking order.
Liverpool’s James Milner and Daniel Sturridge are expected to play big parts for England. Milner will captain the Three Lions for the first time in his international career. Sturridge comes back to the England fold after years of injury misery.
