Adam Jones Wears David Ortiz ‘500’ Necklace, Ditches It After Big Papi Homers

David Ortiz’s 506th career home run didn’t just give the Boston Red Sox an early lead over the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night. It also prompted Orioles outfielder Adam Jones to change up his wardrobe.

When the game began, Jones was spotted wearing one of the Ortiz “500” necklaces — celebrating the home run milestone the Red Sox slugger reached late last season — that were given out to fans at Fenway Park.

But when cameras panned back to Jones after Ortiz’s shot off starter Mike Wright landed in the O’s bullpen, the outfielder had ditched his bling.

Ortiz added a run-scoring double later in the game to cap a two-hit, three-RBI night, but it was not enough to hand Baltimore its first loss of the season. Two homers by J.J. Hardy and another by Mark Trumbo powered the Orioles to a 9-5 victory, improving their record to 7-0.
