Bruins Sign Denver Forward Danton Heinen, Assign Four To Providence

The Boston Bruins inked a deal with another draftee Monday afternoon, officially signing University of Denver forward Danton Heinen to a three-year entry-level contract.

Heinen’s deal goes into effect next season, and he’ll play out the remainder of this season with Boston’s American Hockey League affiliate in Providence on an amateur tryout agreement.

The 20-year-old sophomore was one college hockey’s most prolific scorers this season. Heinen finished tied for 12th in the nation with 48 points (20 goals, 28 assists) in 41 games as he helped lead Denver to its first Frozen Four appearance since 2005. The Pioneers fell to eventual champion North Dakota in the national semifinals.

The Bruins selected Heinen in the fourth round (116th overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft.

Heinen won’t be the only player joining the P-Bruins this week, as Boston on Monday also reassigned forwards Frank Vatrano, Max Talbot and Noel Acciari and defenseman Colin Miller to Providence for the rest of the AHL season.
