Chris Jones, Ex-Patriots Defensive Tackle, Claimed By Dolphins Off Waivers

Former New England Patriots defensive tackle Chris Jones was only out of a job for the weekend.

The Patriots waived Jones on Friday, and he was claimed by the Miami Dolphins on Monday, according to the NFL’s transaction wire.

Jones, 25, was selected by the Houston Texans in the sixth round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He was waived in September of his rookie season and claimed by the Patriots.

Jones recorded 46 tackles and nine sacks in 28 games and 22 starts in 2013 and 2014. He spent the entire 2015 season on the physically unable to perform list.

The Patriots also cut defensive tackle Ishmaa’ily Kitchen on Friday. They’re left with Malcom Brown, Alan Branch, Terrance Knighton, Markus Kuhn, Frank Kearse and Joe Vellano at the position.

The Patriots have 74 total players on their 90-man roster, with the NFL draft coming next week.
