John Sterling Thinks Astros Fly Out And, Whoops, It’s Actually A Home Run

It might be time for John Sterling to get his eyeglass prescription checked.

The radio voice of the New York Yankees had a minor flub Thursday night in the Yankees’ series finale with the Houston Astros.

Houston’s Tyler White hit a deep fly ball to left-center field off Yankees pitcher Nathan Eovaldi. Yankees outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury started to make a play for it but ultimately let the ball go as it cleared the outfield fence.

The problem, though, is Sterling thought Ellsbury made the catch.

This isn’t the first time Sterling has made this sort of gaffe. He got a little too excited about an Alex Rodriguez fly ball in 2013 before realizing the ball actually hit — not cleared — the wall.
