Scottie Pippen: 1996 Bulls Would Sweep 2016 Warriors In Playoff Series

The Golden State Warriors are having a historic season and, as a result, have been thrown into the conversation of greatest NBA teams of all time.

While it’s still way too early for that debate, one former player doesn’t seem to be buying that notion.

Scottie Pippen — a Hall of Famer from the legendary Chicago Bulls teams that won six NBA Finals from 1991 through 1998 — recently said his 1995-96 team (considered one of the two best teams ever, along with the 1985-86 Boston Celtics) would sweep this season’s Warriors in a hypothetical playoff matchup.

This isn’t a surprising comment from Pippen, whose ’96 Bulls might see their single-season record of 72 wins broken by the Warriors over the next few weeks.

Pippen’s prediction of a playoff series sweep might be a bit much — a five-game win seems more likely — but there’s no question the 1996 Bulls, and several of those other Chicago championship teams, likely would beat this season’s Warriors squad in a seven-game series.
