George Springer made a bizarre and hilarious fashion statement before Saturday night’s Houston Astros-Texas Rangers game.
During pregame warmups, Springer tossed a football around with fellow Astros outfielder Jake Marisnick while wearing an inflatable dinosaur costume. It was, in a word, fantastic.

Springer began the practice of wearing football helmets during interviews earlier this season. And while helmets aren’t quite as out-there as inflatable dino suits, it sounds like nothing the UConn product could do would surprise Astros manager A.J. Hinch.
“I sort of avoided seeing it, but it does not surprise me,” Hinch told MLB.com’s Brian McTaggart. “He told me a few weeks ago he was ordering it and I thought he was kidding, but I guess he was not. It’s George being George.”

The pregame fun didn’t translate to in-game success for Houston, which managed just three hits (including one by Springer) in a 2-1 loss to Texas.
