Curt Schilling might be a long shot to be presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s running mate, but the three-time World Series champion is planning on casting his vote in November for him, no matter what.
The former Major League Baseball pitcher wrote a blog post Friday dedicated to why he’s voting for Trump in the presidential election, and he gave three main points for his decision, all while taking shots at President Barack Obama and Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.
Schilling, who recently was fired by ESPN after sharing an anti-transgender meme, gave three detailed reasons for why he’s voting for Trump, including his trust in the presumptive Republican nominee and Trump’s love for America, which he argues President Obama and the Democratic candidates don’t have. His final reason was his belief “that to know the real heart and soul of a man you look at his children,” and Schilling appreciates who Trump’s children are and how they act.
But he didn’t stop there. Schilling had plenty of other choice words for the “liberal media,” President Obama and the two Democratic candidates, too.
Schilling said he doesn’t agree with Trump on everything, including his name calling and commentary on women, but his pro-Trump reasons far outweigh the negatives.
Schilling joins a growing list of athletes who support Trump, including Boston Red Sox pitcher Clay Buchholz and former teammate Johnny Damon.
