Red Sox Prospect Sam Travis To Miss Rest Of Season After Tearing ACL
Boston Red Sox first base prospect Sam Travis will miss the rest of the 2016 season after suffering a torn ACL during a Triple-A game Sunday afternoon, the team announced Monday.
Travis had been off to a strong start in his third professional season, batting .272 with a .756 OPS in 47 games at Pawtucket and leading the International League with 29 RBIs. He split last season between High-A Salem and Double-A Portland, posting a .307/.381/.452 slash line with six triples, nine home runs and 78 RBIs in 131 games between the two levels.
The Red Sox selected the 22-year-old in the second round of the 2014 draft, and he’s rated as Boston’s seventh-best prospect, according to MLB.com.
Travis took to Twitter on Tuesday to thank fans for their support.
