Tom Brady is a pretty emotional guy when the pads are on, whether he’s celebrating a big play, pleading with officials or trying to fire up his teammates.
Away from the gridiron, however, the New England Patriots quarterback takes a much more relaxed approach to family life.
“I don’t overstress — I’m pretty mellow in our house,” Brady recently told People magazine. “I get up, get the kids ready for school, and I’m not freaking out about every little thing. I just take it at my own pace. I’m a pretty relaxed parent.
“My wife (Gisele Bundchen) is a little more like, ‘You have to do it this way! You have to do this!’ And I’m a little more like, ‘They’ll get to it.’ ”
The QB also shared a funny little tidbit about life in the Brady household: Although he has been married to a Brazilian woman for the last nine years, he’s still far from Hall of Fame-caliber when it comes to making sense of Bundchen’s native language.
“We have a lot of Portuguese books in the house and those are … funny!” Brady told People. “My kids can (speak Portuguese), but I can’t read it, so I probably screw up half the words. If they want to pick one of those books, they can, and that’s one of the ones that I read. It’s hard.”
