Warriors Guard Steph Curry ‘Ignoring’ LeBron James’ NBA MVP Comments

Stephen Curry became the first ever unanimous NBA MVP award winner this past week, a feat not even Michael Jordan or Larry Bird accomplished.

The Golden State Warriors point guard also became the fourth player in the last 15 years to win back-to-back MVPs.

One of those four players, Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James, had some interesting comments when recently asked about Curry’s honor. He started out very complimentary, and then he took a turn at the end.

“You Look at Steph’s numbers. He averaged 30, he led the league in steals, he was 90-50-40 (shooting percentages from the free-throw line, field and 3-pointers), and they won 73 (games). So, I don’t, do you have really any debate over that, really, when it comes to that award?” James said, via ESPN.

“But when you talk about most ‘valuable,’ then you can have a different conversation. But, take nothing away from him, he’s definitely deserving of that award, for sure.”

As you might expect, Curry was asked to respond to James’ comments, and he gave an unsurprising answer.

“I’ve gotten really good at ignoring people. That’s the theme of the last two years,” Curry said. “I’m all right.”

Let’s just hope we have another Warriors-Cavaliers matchup in the NBA Finals in June. There’s nothing better than the two best players in the world going head-to-head with everything at stake.
