Blackhawks Trade Andrew Shaw To Canadiens For Two 2016 NHL Draft Picks

The 2016 NHL Draft begun with the Toronto Maple Leafs selecting Auston Matthews No. 1 overall, and then league commissioner Gary Bettman announced two trades.

One of them involved the Chicago Blackhawks sending third-line center Andrew Shaw to the Montreal Canadiens for a pair of 2016 second-round draft picks.

Shaw tallied 34 points (14 goals, 20 assists) in 78 games last season. He played an important bottom-six role on two Blackhawks championships in 2013 and 2015.

The Canadiens also acquired a pair of second-round picks from the Washington Capitals for center Lars Eller.
