Kimbo Slice Reportedly Needed Heart Transplant, Was Told Days Before Death

More light has been shed on Kimbo Slice’s dire situation in the days leading up to his death.

The mixed martial artist was admitted to Northwest Medical Center in Margate, Fla., on June 3 with abdominal pain, shortness of breath and nausea, The Sun Sentinel reported Tuesday, citing a medical report. The medical report says Slice needed a heart transplant after he was diagnosed with a liver mass and congestive heart failure.

He reportedly was put on a ventilator while he was in intensive care, but he died Monday night before he could be transferred and put on an organ donor list in Cleveland.

Slice’s next Bellator fight was scheduled for July 16, but he was planning to pull out due to health reasons, Mike Brown, Slice’s coach, told ESPN’s Brett Okamoto.
