LeBron James Unanimously Wins 2016 NBA Finals MVP With Game 7 Triple-Double
Add another line to LeBron James’ lengthy resume.
The Cleveland Cavaliers forward finally brought a championship home to Cleveland 13 years after the Cavaliers drafted him No. 1 overall with a 93-89 win over the Golden State Warriors in Game 7 of the NBA Finals, and for his efforts, he was named the unanimous MVP of the series, the third time he’s earned the award.
James previously won the award in 2012 and 2013 with the Miami Heat. He led all players on both teams in points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks, becoming the first player in NBA history to do so.
He finished with a team-high 27 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks in Game 7. His triple-double was just the third in Game 7 of the Finals in NBA history. He scored or assisted on 50 percent of the Cavaliers’ points in Game 7.
The championship is Cleveland’s first among the four major professional sports since 1964.
