Brian Windhorst went a little overboard.
The ESPN writer made a questionable comment toward colleague Rachel Nichols before Game 4 of the NBA Finals. Nichols, who doesn’t take crap from anyone, clearly wasn’t a fan of the remark and fired right back, demanding that Windhorst retract what he said.
“I don’t care,” Windhorst said while discussing the fact that LeBron James follows Nichols on Twitter and not him. “He’s sliding into Rachel’s DMs.”

Obviously, such a comment could be viewed as sexist — the term “sliding into your DMs” usually refers to when one person sends a direct message on Twitter to someone they’re romantically interested in — even if Windhorst meant no harm and simply was trying to rib his co-worker during a playful on-air moment.
Oh, the pitfalls of live TV.
