Alex Khokhlachev Officially Leaves Bruins, Signs Two-Year KHL Contract

As expected, Alex Khokhlachev has decided to leave the Boston Bruins and return to the Kontinental Hockey League.

Khokhlachev signed a two-year contract with SKA St. Petersburgh, the Russian club announced Friday.

The 22-year-old forward played in 197 games for the Providence Bruins over the last four seasons but never caught on in Boston, appearing in just nine NHL contests since joining the organization in 2012. He failed to score a point in those nine games and registered just seven total shots on goal.

The Bruins had extended Khokhlachev, a restricted free agent, a qualifying offer earlier this week.
