Bruins Announce New Contracts For D-Men Colin Miller, Joe Morrow

The Boston Bruins announced a pair of new contracts Thursday with defensemen who could play an important role on the team’s blue line this coming season and well into the future.

Colin Miller signed a two-year, one-way deal worth a total of $2 million, while Joe Morrow signed a one-year, one-way contract worth $800,000. The Bruins acquired Miller and Morrow in the Milan Lucic and Tyler Seguin trades, respectively.

The one-way deals mean both players will be in the NHL next season. This is the right step for their them as both have little to gain, from a development standpoint, by playing against AHL competition.

It’s time to find out how well they can play against NHL-level talent on a consistent basis.

With these contracts, the Bruins now have seven defensemen on one-way contracts for the 2016-17 campaign. Boston signed blueliners Torey Krug, John-Michael Liles and Kevan Miller earlier in the offseason.
