Derrick Rose Might Be Confused, Says Knicks, Warriors Both Are Superteams

When NBA commissioner Adam Silver said earlier this month having two “superteams” was bad for the league, he was referring to the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers. Don’t tell that to Derrick Rose, though.

Rose, whom the Chicago Bulls traded to the New York Knicks in June, is under the impression that his new club, not the defending champion Cavs, is viewed alongside the loaded Warriors as one of the teams to beat this season.

“I mean, with these teams right now, they’re saying us and Golden State are the superteams.” Rose told NBA.com’s Lang Whitaker. “And they’re trying not to build that many superteams, and Adam Silver came out with the statement and this and that.”

The Knicks admittedly did improve this offseason, adding a former MVP in Rose and a former Defensive Player of the Year in Joakim Noah to a roster that already featured Carmelo Anthony. Forming that trio would have turned any team into a title contender in, say, 2012.

The only problem: It’s 2016, and all three of those players are on the wrong side of their primes.

With Rose, Noah, Carmelo and budding star Kristaps Porzingis, the Knicks definitely should be good enough make the playoffs this season in a weak Eastern Conference. But including them in the same sentence with the Warriors is laughable.
