Patriots Sign Safety Vinnie Sunseri, Offensive Lineman Kyler Kerbyson

The New England Patriots added two more players to their roster Sunday, officially signing safety Vinnie Sunseri and offensive lineman Kyler Kerbyson.

A fifth-round draft pick of the New Orleans Saints in 2014, Sunseri has been plagued by injury during his brief NFL career. The Alabama product played in nine games as a rookie before suffering a season-ending broken arm, then missed all of last season after going down with a knee injury during New Orleans’ final preseason game.

Sunseri’s best chance of making the Patriots’ 53-man roster likely will be via special teams, as New England’s depth chart at safety is pretty well solidified.

Kerbyson, whose signing was first reported Friday, is an undrafted free agent out of Tennessee. He started all 13 games at left tackle for the Volunteers last season and also can play guard.

With the additions of Sunseri and Kerbyson, the Patriots have only one open spot remaining on their 90-man roster. Rookies reported to Gillette Stadium for training camp Sunday, with the team’s veterans scheduled to join them Wednesday.
