Angry 49ers Fan Burns Colin Kaepernick Jersey While Playing National Anthem

For some reason, people still are talking about Colin Kaepernick exercising his constitutional right to freedom of speech.

In case you’ve been living under a rock this weekend, the San Francisco 49ers quarterback didn’t stand up for “The Star-Spangled Banner” before Friday night’s preseason game. It’s not the first time Kaepernick has done it (some reports claim he did it all last season), but it’s the first time anyone noticed or took issue. His comments after the game explaining why are causing outrage across the Internet.

This fan took it to a new level, though, and performed the incredibly cliché Internet act of burning Kaepernick’s jersey. He then turned on the national anthem and saluted the jersey (presumably, because there’s no flag in sight) while watching it burn.

Also not pictured: the $100-plus spent on that jersey also being burned.

Ultimately, this is just some angry dude on the Internet looking for likes. Clearly, it has worked, but that’s about all it has done.

What do you think?  Leave a comment.

That’s the great thing about this country, though. Kaepernick and this 49ers fan both can express themselves in whatever manner they choose because people died to give them the opportunity to do so.
