Neymar Lifts Brazil To First Olympic Soccer Gold With Thrilling Win Vs. Germany

Brazil is one of the most accomplished men’s soccer nations in the world, but it still managed to do something for the first time ever Saturday at the Olympics.

Brazil and Germany played in a thrilling Olympic men’s soccer final, and Brazil eventually came out on top with a 5-4 advantage in penalty kicks to earn the nation’s first soccer gold medal ever in front of the hometown fans in Rio de Janeiro.

The two teams played to a 1-1 draw through regulation and extra time. Neymar scored the regulation goal for Brazil, and he also kicked in the game-winning penalty.

Maximilian Meyer scored Germany’s goal.
