Kerri Walsh Jennings and April Ross didn’t have an easy time Wednesday, but they still found a way to advance to the Olympic beach volleyball Round of 16 with a three-set victory over Switzerland’s Isabelle Forrer and Anouk Verge-Depre.
Walsh Jennings and Ross looked like their dominant selves in the first set, but Team Switzerland didn’t go away quietly. Forrer and Verge-Depre won set No. 2, which marked just the second time Walsh Jennings has lost a set in her Olympic career. But Team USA did just enough in the third to win 15-12 and clinch the thrilling victory.
