Olympic Swimming Results: Michael Phelps Wins Silver Medal In 100M Butterfly

Michael Phelps is human after all.

The greatest swimmer of all-time won his 27th medal Olympic medal (a record) Friday night when he took home the silver in the 100-meter butterfly event at the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio.

Phelps (51.14 seconds) actually finished in a rare three-way tie for the silver with South Africa’s Chad le Clos and Hungary’s Laszlo Cseh.

Joseph Schooling (50.39 seconds) set an Olympic record and won the race to give Singapore its first ever Olympic gold medal.

On Thursday, Phelps captured his 22nd Olympic gold medal for winning the 200-meter individual medley. Less than 40 minutes after that race, he qualified for Friday’s final.

Unless Phelps returns for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Friday’s butterfly race will have been his final individual Olympic event.
