Olympic Track And Field Results: Usain Bolt Wins Third Gold Medal In 100 Meters

Usain Bolt again is the fastest man in the world, winning the 100 meters at the 2016 Olympics in 9.81 seconds Sunday.

It’s the third consecutive Olympic 100 gold for the 29-year-old Jamaican sprinter, who also has won the 200 and 4×100 relay in the previous two Games.

USA’s Justin Gatlin led early in the race, but Bolt turned on the burners to pass his rival. Gatlin finished in 9.89 seconds, good enough for silver, his third Olympic medal in the event (gold in 2004, bronze in 2012).

Canada’s Andre De Grasse took the bronze in 9.91 seconds.

Earlier Sunday, Bolt won his semifinal heat in 9.86 seconds, cruising across the finish line with a smile while looking back at the competitors he left in the dust.
