Patriots Practice Attendance: Malcom Mitchell Returns After Elbow Injury

FOXBORO, Mass. — Malcolm Mitchell only took one day off from practice after suffering a gruesome-looking elbow injury in the New England Patriots’ preseason opener against the New Orleans Saints.

Mitchell was present for joint practice with the Chicago Bears on Monday in full pads with a protective brace on his left elbow. Tight end Bryce Williams also returned to practice after suffering a knee injury two weeks ago.

Safeties Nate Ebner and Brock Vereen, running back Dion Lewis, pass rushers Jabaal Sheard and Shea McClellin, guard Jonathan Cooper and offensive tackle Sebastian Vollmer were absent for Monday’s session. Lewis and Vollmer remain on the physically unable to perform list.

Wide receiver Danny Amendola and guard Tre’ Jackson, both of whom are on the PUP list, were present but not wearing pads.

Mitchell, running backs D.J. Foster and Donald Brown, Williams, defensive end Rob Ninkovich, Jackson, Amendola and wide receiver Keshawn Martin went to a separate field to work with trainers after the stretching period of practice.
