Patriots Release Bryan Stork, Place Tre’ Jackson On PUP/Reserve
The Bryan Stork saga finally is over.
The Patriots released Stork on Monday after the center reverted back to New England following a failed trade with the Washington Redskins. Stork reportedly failed his physical with Washington.
The Patriots originally were going to release Stork last Wednesday before Washington came in with a trade offer. Stork reportedly mulled retirement before reporting to Washington.
New England also placed guard Tre’ Jackson (knee) on the physically unable to perform/reserve list, meaning he must sit out the first six weeks of the season. The team also released defensive tackle Terrance Knighton on Monday, leaving its current roster at 80 players.
The Patriots must free up five more roster spots by Tuesday at 4 p.m., when all teams must trim down to 75 players. Head coach Bill Belichick and Co. then must whittle the roster down to 53 players by Saturday.
