Red Sox Vs. Tigers Lineup: Sandy Leon Gets Day Off For Game 3 In Detroit

Even superheroes need to rest sometimes.

Catcher and baseball’s best hitter (yes, seriously) Sandy Leon is out of the Red Sox’s lineup Saturday against the Detroit Tigers after playing four days in a row beginning Tuesday in Baltimore. Bryan Holaday will start behind the dish instead and bat ninth. Travis Shaw, who’s seen a decrease in playing time, also is on the bench again while Aaron Hill starts at third base and bats seventh.

Drew Pomeranz is on the mound for Boston, and he’ll be looking to keep moving in the right direction after picking up his first win in a Red Sox uniform in his last outing. The lefty gave up just two runs on five hits over 7 2/3 innings of work in a 3-2 win over the Cleveland Indians on Aug. 15.

Here are the Red Sox’s and Tigers’ lineups for Saturday.
