Robert Griffin III isn’t just changing teams in 2016. He’s apparently also changing his marital status this year.
The Cleveland Browns quarterback has begun the process of divorcing his wife Rebecca Liddicoat, Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot reported Wednesday, citing an NFL source. Griffin and Liddicoat have been married in July 2013 but seperated “several months” ago, according to Cabot.
“Griffin has informed his teammates and coaches of the divorce, and they’ve been supportive, the source said,” Cabot writes.
“Sources said that it’s been a difficult time for Griffin, but that he’s working through it with the help of friends and family.”
Griffin is entering his first season with Cleveland following his departure from the Washington Redskins. He reportedly has impressed his new team so far with his work ethic and focus. This comes, despite his marital problems.
TMZ reported Wednesday that Griffin has a new girlfriend — Grete Sadeiko, a 23-year old track and field athlete at Florida State University. Griffin has even tattoed her name on his throwing arm.
2016 truly has been the summer of change for RG3.
