Tom Brady Doesn’t Specify Whereabouts In Excused Absence From Patriots

FOXBORO, Mass. — Tom Brady’s unusual offseason continued this weekend, when the New England Patriots quarterback was excused from practice Sunday and Monday.

Brady returned Tuesday and met with the media. When asked about his whereabouts the previous two days, Brady only would say he “just had to take care of something.”

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick on Monday called Brady’s absence a “personal situation.”

Brady, of course, is suspended for the first four weeks of the 2016 NFL season after dropping his Deflategate-related appeal. Brady didn’t play in the Patriots’ first preseason game so he could attend memorial services for a family member. He didn’t play Thursday against the Chicago Bears after slicing his thumb with scissors while attempting to remove an object from his cleat.

Brady said he wants to play Friday in the Patriots’ third preseason game, against the Carolina Panthers. It remains to be disclosed if Brady or backup Jimmy Garoppolo will start that game.
