The women’s soccer teams of the United States and Sweden will renew their rivalry far from their respective homes.
Team USA will face Sweden on Friday at Mané Garrincha Stadium in Brasilia, Brazil, in the quarterfinals of the women’s soccer tournament at the 2016 Olympic Games.
The teams are no strangers to one another, with Sweden coach Pia Sundhage having guided Team USA as head coach from 2008 to 2012. The Americans undoubtedly are keen to demonstrate the progress they have made under Sundhage’s successor, Jill Ellis, and advance to the semifinals.
