FOXBORO, Mass. — The Tom Brady banners that adorned the Gillette Stadium lighthouse came down Sunday night, and Bill Belichick still does not want to talk about them.
Asked Wednesday whether he advocated for the banners’ removal, the New England Patriots coach insisted his sole focus is on Sunday’s game — the Patriots’ home opener against the Miami Dolphins.
“I’ve been talking about Miami,” Belichick said. “I’ve been working on Miami. I don’t do concerts. I don’t do banners. I don’t do parking. I don’t do concessions. I just try to coach the team.”
The concert Belichick referred to was a Bruce Springsteen show set to take place at Gillette on Wednesday night. The coach wasn’t in a particularly chipper mood during his morning news conference, but he did crack a smile when a reporter asked him if he ever has rocked out to The Boss.
“I’ve seen a few wild Springsteen concerts, yeah,” Belichick grinned.
