FOXBORO, Mass. — New England Patriots quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo said Wednesday he’s experiencing a “smoother operation” now that Tom Brady’s four-game Deflategate suspension has begun.

One day later, Patriots coach Bill Belichick was asked if he agrees: Are things running more smoothly with Brady out of the mix?

Belichick did not appreciate the question.

“That’s his opinion,” the coach responded, referring to Garoppolo.

Pressed for his own opinion on the matter, Belichick only became more agitated.

“Are you asking how he felt? That’s how he feels,” Belichick said. “If you ask somebody for their opinion, that’s their opinion. I’m not going to disagree with Jimmy’s opinion, because that’s how he feels. He’s entitled to feel however he does. He answered your question. I’m not going to tell you how someone else feels. That’s ridiculous.”

Garoppolo is set to make his first NFL start Sunday night against the Arizona Cardinals.
