Jacoby Brissett Injury Update: Patriots QB Practices With Taped Thumb

FOXBORO, Mass. — New England Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett was back on the practice field Tuesday, five days after reportedly injuring his right thumb in a win over the Houston Texans.

Brissett, who was able to finish the game against Houston, practiced with his thumb and wrist wrapped in tape.

For what it’s worth, the rookie QB used the thumb to operate his iPhone as he walked through the locker room before practice, and he joked about the injury during a brief exchange with reporters.

Brissett started against the Texans in place of Jimmy Garoppolo, who injured his throwing shoulder in Week 2. The third-round draft pick completed 11 of 19 passes for 103 yards in the Patriots’ 27-0 victory and also carried the ball eight times for 48 yards and one touchdown.

Garoppolo also practiced Tuesday, though neither he nor Brissett attempted a pass during the portion of practice that was open to the media.
