Patriots’ Starting QB Vs. Bills? Rex Ryan Says He Knows, But He’s Not Telling

Rex Ryan believes he’s cracked the New England Patriots’ quarterback code.

Ryan said Tuesday in a radio interview he knows who will start under center for the Patriots on Sunday against his Buffalo Bills.

“I think we know, but I’m not going to say anything,” the Bills head coach said, via NewYorkUpstate.com. “At the same time, we’ll be prepared anyway just like you would. The main thing is just stopping what they do. They change their MO a lot of times. It’s more of a game plan of the week.”

He added: “Who knows how they’ll approach us? One thing we know for sure is they’re not going to know how we’re going to approach them either. It will be a chess match.”

Patriots quarterbacks Jimmy Garoppolo and Jacoby Brissett are dealing with shoulder and thumb injuries, respectively, and it remains to been seen whether either will be healthy enough to suit up against Buffalo. While Ryan has his suspicions, he doesn’t expect the Patriots to reveal their starter until Sunday morning.

“I expect them immediately to tell us,” said a sarcastic Ryan, whose team blew out the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday for its first win of the season. “As soon as they tell us, we’ll be like, ‘Yeah, OK.’ Nobody would believe it anyway. Nah, I don’t know. We’re not going to find out until kickoff.”

Garoppolo and Brissett both practiced Tuesday.
